Trump's Medicare Improvement Fund Rebate
You may have noticed today a $90 direct deposit in your bank account from social security. This is not a mistake.
The payment is part of a one-time Medicare premium rebate announced by President Trump, funded through the Medicare Improvement Fund, which was established by Congress in 2008. The balance of the fund was approximately $2 billion, which President Trump ordered distributed to certain Medicare beneficiaries.1 Only about 1/3 of Medicare enrollees will receive a payment. In order to qualify:
1). You must be on original Medicare (NOT a Medicare Advantage plan)
2). You must not be paying an income related monthly adjustment amount (IRMAA). Generally, this means your income in 2024 was under $109,000 if you were single and $218,000 if you were married.
